Water/Sewer/Garbage
General Information
Services provided by the City of Bay City include water, sewer, and garbage and can be connected at the City's Water Utilities Office. The Water Utilities Office is open from 8 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The office is located at:

Water Utility bills are mailed every month and are due within ten days of the date of mailing. Bills may be paid by mail, in person at the Water Utilities office or by depositing the payment and bill stub in the drop box located at:

Utility Billing Procedures
If you believe the City of Bay City has made an error in your bill, or dispute your obligation to pay the bill, you may arrange a meeting with a representative of the billing office by calling 979-245-2322 weekdays between 8 am and 5 pm
Water Utility Connection Procedures
To apply for service, new customers will need to come, between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, to the Utility Billing Office located at:

Residential customers will need to show a driver's license or photo identification, make a deposit of $150, and give the location for service.
Small business customers need to make a deposit of $200. Large business customers are required to make a deposit of $250. Multi-units accounts deposit is $150 per unit and high volume commercial accounts are based on a two-year historical usage. For customers outside of the city limits, the deposit for water or sewer service shall be two times the deposit for customers within the city.

Garbage Division
The Solid Waste (Garbage) Division is responsible for collecting residential solid waste, which includes brush and large items, for approximately 5,400 households in Bay City. The Division also collects commercial solid waste.
Curbside Residential Garbage Collection
- Residential service is provided through the use of automated side load trucks on a twice per week basis.
- Each residence is provided a 96 gallon cart to be placed curbside on the regular scheduled pickup day.
- Carts are for residential waste only, no construction debris, metal, dirt, tree limbs, or hazardous waste are to be placed in the Cart. The lid of the card must be closed, without debris placed above the rim of the cart.
- Pickup starts at 7 am
It is illegal to place or leave any residential (garbage) container, empty or otherwise, on or near a curb line after 8 pm on the designated collection day or prior to 8 pm on the day before the day designed for collection.
Residential Large Item & Tree Limb Collection
Once a week the following items will be picked up:
- Appliances
- Brush
- Furniture
- Large items (less than six feet in length)
- Tree limbs
Tree limbs and brush need to be separated from all other waste so that it may be taken to the chip site to be made into mulch. Each residence is allowed 6 cubic yards per week of large items. Six cubic yards is approximately a pile 4 foot wide by 4 foot tall by 10 feet long.
Arrangements for larger piles may be made by calling the Solid Waste Department, an additional fee will be charged to your water bill for the collection of more than 6 cubic yards. If you have a special request you may contact the office at 979-323-1107.
