Summer Camp Fun!


Bay City’s Summer Camp is back for a limited time

Summer Camp - The coolest way to beat the summer heat has come again.

Tired of the same boring summer activities?  Want to get outside enjoy the fresh air and learn about the great outdoors and games? We have the camp for you to introduce new activities, longtime favorites and fresh options for youth ages 5 - 12 years old.  And the cherry on top - you get a great chance to build long lasting friendships! 

Camp Theme  is the Great Outdoors and meets at Riverside Park from June 28th – July 1st

The Great Outdoors: Explore nature at Riverside Park.   This camp will delve into all things in nature.  Campers will learn about the Colorado River, water and boating safety; bugs, trees, creatures and critters; fishing and fun outdoor crafts - sand candles, fish prints and many more.  The week ends with cooking your own lunch in the fire pit!

Camp will be run from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. daily on Tuesday – Friday and cost $50/session. Fee includes a camp shirt, supplies, snacks and lunch on Friday.  Campers bring a lunch daily except Friday.  Registration begins May 16th at 8 a.m. 

You can register three ways:  

  1. In person at Bay City Parks Administration, 1209 10th Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  2. In person at Riverside Park, 7330 FM 2668, Sunday – Saturday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  3. Register on-line at https://www.cityofbaycity.org/190/Parks-Recreation.  Click on the Events and Programs button.

Harlem All-Star Legends    

Saturday, June 18th

6 p.m.

Doors open at 5 p.m.

Bay City High School Gym

 

The Bay City Parks and Recreation and Bay City All Sports Booster Club have teamed up to host at night of basketball fun starring the Harlem All Star Legends on Saturday, June 18th at the Bay City High School Gym located at 400 7th Street.  “We are excited to bring professional basketball players to our town and support our Little Dribblers youth basketball program in Bay City” said Parks and Recreation Director Shawn Blackburn.  “The program is headed up by Janice Hopes of Bay City All Sports Booster Club who has worked hard to put together this quality program and we appreciate her efforts and all the coaches that make it happen” Blackburn said.

The doors open at 5 p.m. and tickets are required.  FREE Tickets can be picked up beginning May 31st at the Parks and Recreation Office located at 1209 10th Street, next to Amistad Park.  

The Harlem All-Star Legends are made up of former Harlem Globetrotters led by Houston native and Harlem Globetrotters alum Reggie “Air-Man” Dixon.

Pickleball is America's fastest growing sport and specifically is a mixture of tennis, badminton, and ping pong.  It's fast, fun, and exciting and is VERY popular! Pickleball is fun for people of all ages and no experience is necessary to play! So, join in the fun and learn something new with Pickleball!

 

“This new program is a terrific example of the community guiding us as we seek to enhance and grow our recreation programming,” according to Bay City Parks and Recreation Department’s director Shawn Blackburn. “Pickleball is here because our community asked for it. We are excited to offer this new program and love seeing the new courts filled with pickleball players.”
